You may have already noticed, but  there have been some major changes on Interstate 85.

The Georgia DOT has converted 16 miles of existing High Occupancy Vehicle (HOV) lanes to High Occupancy Toll (HOT) lanes on I-85 from Chamblee Tucker Road to Old Peachtree Road. This means: transit enhancements (more express buses heading up and down I-85), intelligent transportation systems technology (cameras and monitoring), and variable pricing (toll to ride in the lane, price rises and falls with congestion).

In a nutshell: you now have a choice between sitting in gridlock or cruising in the new toll lane. Registered carpools of 3+, bus passengers and vanpools can ride in the HOT lane without a toll, and registered solo drivers and two-person carpools are also able to drive in the HOT lane for a fee.

All vehicles using the lane must be registered for a Peach Pass, (a sticker tag mounted on a vehicle windshield or bumper that is used to track lane usage), so make sure to sign up for yours today.
